It’s been a little while since I posted, and I’ve been a little side tracked with other creative projects (too much 5^th house energy scatter-brained with my Sagittarius moon). However, I’ve had this idea brewing in my mind for a bit now about how I want to introduce the signs a little differently than how most introduction to astrology books do it.

I want to show you the 360 degrees of astrology and how that circular idea is embedded in the very beginning. This will lead you to having a deep understanding of astrology and the ability to have a 3-dimensional view, not just a bunch of memorized facts about each sign. So, stay with me here, we’re going to break it down and walk through it piece by piece. Signs and Their Relationships

Today, as we talk about the signs, I want to illuminate some of the relationships between them, which will hopefully make sense in a new way. 

As I said in the elemental series, each element has 3 signs which is a variation of that element.

Water- Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio

Earth- Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Air- Aquarius, Gemini, Libra

Fire- Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

I’ll talk about each sign specifically in the future, but right now I want you to understand something.

Each sign, when you put it on the astrology circle, has an exact opposite. The sign that is exactly 180 degrees from it.

These signs form an axis. They’re in a relationship, and they represent two (extreme) sides of the same energy/idea. Its kind of like saying opposites are two sides of the same coin. When we learn the signs this way, we grasp its basic nature instead of just associated words.  

So, let’s look at these:

Aries (I, Self, ME) ---Axis---Libra (We, Us, Partnerships) 

Taurus (stability, grounded, constant)---Axis---Scorpio (Depth, transformation, intensity)

Gemini (versatility, social, mental curiosity)---Axis---Sagittarius (learning, adventure, wisdom)

Cancer (nurture, emotion, care)---Axis---Capricorn (business, rules, tradition)

Leo (attention-seeking, playful, creative)---Axis---Aquarius (humanity, innovative, reserved)

Virgo (analytical, detailed, perfectionistic)---Axis---Pisces (ethereal, holistic, flowing)

So, we can see these are axis’s that represent larger ideas:

Aries-Libra - The axis of Interaction: I versus We (both are needed for healthy relationships)

Taurus-Scorpio -  The axis of Change: Stability versus Transformation/Destruction (destruction is necessary for change)

Gemini-Sagittarius - The axis of Knowledge: Expression versus Wisdom (what is the meaning or importance of what’s expressed, or the correct use of information)

Cancer-Capricorn - The axis of Support: Mothering (doing for) versus Expectations (holding boundaries), they’re both forms of care.

Leo-Aquarius - The axis of Social:  Individual versus Collective (the creative expression of self and the collective well being of all equally).

Virgo-Pisces - The axis of Being: Multi/Differentiation versus Oneness (differentiate, label to understand and categorize, yet the parts can never describe the whole- the greater being within).

So, on any astrology wheel, these signs will be across from one another. If you have one planet in 3 degrees Gemini and another planet at 3 degrees Sagittarius, they are “in opposition” to one another- they’re exactly 180 degrees apart. (Most astrologers will allow a few degree difference, we’ll say up to 5 degrees and still call it an opposition).

Squares:

In a future article we’ll talk about squares. Each of these axis’s have another axis that crosses it, like a plus sign (+), forming 90 degree angles. These signs form what we call “squares” to each other. I’ll elaborate further soon.
